Florstedt, Hermann

Hermann Florstedt (18 Feb. 1895 – 5 April 1945), SS Standartenführer since 1938, served in the Sachsenhausen Camp from 1940 until 1942, when he was transferred to the Majdanek Camp, becoming its third commandant.

Florstedt was soon investigated by the SS-internal court system for suspicion of embezzling inmate property and murdering inmates to cover up his crimes. He was arrested but never tried due to the ongoing war. He is said to have been executed by the SS on 5 April 1945, just prior to the collapse of the Third Reich.
